The Ophelia Polk Moore Memorial Trust

In 1892 Mrs. Naomi H. Moore set up a Trust in honor of her daughter who was killed in a train accident in North Carolina in 1890.  The Trust is to provide grants to aid persons and organizations to improve the lives of under-privileged youths of Phillips County in the areas of health, religion, education, and cultural experiences.  Every year groups apply for a grant and after evaluation by the OPM Committee recommendations are made to the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church who serve as the Trustees and vote on the grants and amount to be awarded.

The following are the 2025 grant recipients who were awarded at St. John’s Church during their worship service on March 30th 2025.
